Tehran (IP) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) summoned the charge d'affaires of Sweden and Denmark on Sunday following continued insults to the Holy Quran in both countries.

Iran PressIran news: The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemned these actions and held the governments of Sweden and Denmark fully responsible for the severe consequences of insulting the Holy Quran.

During the meeting, the Deputy Director of the General Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs referred to a statement by Iran's Leader, which described supporting criminals and those who insult the Holy Quran as a form of war against the Islamic world. A warning was issued against any repetition of these conspiratorial and dangerous actions.

The deputy emphasized that both countries should adhere to their international obligations outlined in articles 19 and 20 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

The Iranian diplomat also mentioned resolutions passed during the 53rd session of the Human Rights Council and the 18th emergency meeting of foreign ministers from Islamic countries (OIC), which condemned insulting the Holy Quran.

Despite this condemnation, governments like Sweden and Denmark have remained passive and continue supporting those who insulted the Qur'an.

In response, both charge d'affaires condemned any insult to the Holy Quran and expressed their governments' determination to prevent such actions by changing their internal laws.

They assured that they would immediately report these protests to their respective governments.
