Iran Press/ Iran News: The prominent Iranian artist was admitted to the intensive care unit of Jam Hospital yesterday (Sunday) with unstable cardiopulmonary and respiratory conditions and loss of consciousness, hypotension, and platelets.
His son, Homayoun, shared the statement by the Board of Directors of Jam Hospital in the Instagram story, which asked people to pray for the Maestro.
Hours ago, there were reports that he has passed away, but they were denied by the Head of the Hospital Ali-Reza Estaqamati afterward.
Mohammad Reza Shajarian is a vocal master whose works are undoubtedly an undeniable part of Iranian music’s audio heritage. He has been called "Iran's greatest maestro of Persian classical music."
Shajarian (born September 23, 1940, in Mashhad) is a musician, composer, singer, and calligrapher, an artist who managed to leave lasting works for Iranian music during his six decades of artistic activity.
The Iranian maestro has twice been nominated for a Grammy World Award. The Asia Association website called him the most famous Iranian classical music artist. The Vancouver newspaper also named him one of the most important music artists of 2010 and one of the top 50 voices in the world.
