Iran Press/Iran news: Senator Bernie Sanders, of Vermont, wrote on Twitter: "President Tramp! Federal employees are not billionaires, they have to feed their children and pay their mortgages, end the shutdown now, treat federal employees with the respect they are due".
Senator Ben Cardin of Maryland also said: "While the US president has taken government into hostage-taking, the federal workers and employees have suffered." The current US government shutdown began at midnight on December 21, 2018.
A White House meeting between Democrats and Republicans yielded no deal as US president threatened to keep the government closed for a very long period of time, months or even years, Iran Press reported.
