Saudi coalition fighters bomb Kamaran Island, Yemen

Saudi-led coalition fighter jets bombed Yemen's western Kamaran Island 11 times on Monday morning.

Iran PressMiddle East: The sound of several explosions was heard on the island. Some news sources reported that Saudi coalition fighters also attacked al-Hudaydah in western Yemen.

Yemeni sources said dozens of Yemenis were killed and wounded in the attacks.

A source in Yemen’s Armed Forces said in an interview with Almasirah Media Network that the attacks were a clear violation of the Stockholm agreement.

An agreed ceasefire in Sweden between Sana'a and Riyadh delegations began on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, in Yemen's western province of al-Hudaydah, but the Saudi coalition violates it every day.

The fourth round of Yemeni peace talks kicked off on December 6, 2018, in Stockholm, Sweden with the participation of Yemeni parties and chaired by Martin Griffiths, the UN Secretary General's Special Representative for Yemen and was finished on Thursday, December 13, 2018, with the ceasefire agreement in al-Hudaydah.

Several efforts have been made to end the Yemeni war so far, but each time it has stalled with the intransigence of Saudi Arabia and its allies.

Backed by the United States, the Saudi regime and some of its Arab allies invaded Yemen in 2015 and have enforced a strict blockade of the country by ground, air, and sea ever since.

The Saudi war has affected over seven million children in Yemen who now face a serious threat of famine, according to UNICEF figures.

Over 6,000 children have either been killed or sustained serious injuries since 2015, the UN children’s agency said. The humanitarian situation in the country has also been exacerbated by outbreaks of cholera, polio, and measles.

The US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization, estimates that the war in Yemen has claimed more than 91,000 lives over the past four and a half years.
