Suadi Arabia (IP) - The Minister Board of Saudi Arabia says Riyadh is seeking to begin a new era of relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran PressMiddle East: In March, after 5 rounds of security negotiations in Iraq and 3 rounds of talks in Oman, Iran and Suadi Arabia finally reached an agreement in Beijing to restore relations after a 7-year pause. 

During their cabinet session on Tuesday, the Saudi ministers addressed the measures taken with regard to the implementation of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Tehran and Riyadh, including the beginning of the work of the Iranian and Saudi ambassadors.

Riyadh is eager to start a new phase of relations with Iran based on shared interests and mutual respect, the Saudi ministers said, according to the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The issue was discussed in the Saudi cabinet session as the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian visited Saudi Arabia on August 17, at the formal invitation of his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan. 

Heading a delegation to Saudi Arabia, Hossein Amir-Abdollhian met with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farahan and Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman; the two sides discussed the ways to shore up bilateral ties and the opportunities for cooperation ahead. 

The Iranian FM's visit to Saudi Arabia was extensively reflected in the world's media due to the importance of Tehran-Riyadh ties.
