Renovation operation at Iran-Afghanistan border crossing should continue rapidly, officials say

The Deputy Foreign Ministers of Iran and Afghanistan underscored that the road construction and renovation of the border crossing between the two countries should continue rapidly.

Iran PressIran News: Mohsen Baharvand, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, and Meerwais Nab Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, met at the Dogharoon-Islam Qala border crossing on April 1.

While visiting the border crossing renovation and restoration operations between the two countries, the two sides discussed border issues and issues related to traffic and transit.

The two countries' deputy foreign ministers agreed that the road construction and renovation of the border crossing should continue quickly without border and legal issues affecting them and that such issues should be reviewed and resolved only by the joint border commission of the two countries.

The two sides discussed issues related to the need for development and trade between the two countries, efforts to regulate the movement of citizens, the need to intensify the fight against human trafficking and drug trafficking as well as international terrorism, facilitate assistance between the two sides in the event of natural disasters and other emergency situations.
