Tehran (IP) - Iran's President planted an almond sapling on the occasion of Arbor Day and the start of Natural Resources Week.

Iran PressIran news: Ebrahim Raisi planted an almond sapling in the Quchak area, located in the eastern highlands of Tehran, on Sunday, at the same time as Arbor Day, together with the families of the Holy Defence martyrs and various groups of the people.

On National Tree Planting Day or Arbor Day, individuals and groups throughout the country are encouraged to plant and care for trees.

Every year, just before the Iranian New Year, scores of Iranians plant trees to mark the tree-planting week and hail the coming of spring.

National Tree Planting Day is annually celebrated on the fifteenth day of Esfand, the last month on the Iranian calendar, which usually corresponds with March 6.

The day marks the beginning of the National Week of Natural Resources (March 6-13).

Simultaneously with the ceremony, a planting project of 1,250 hectares of forestry in the form of a green belt project around the city of Tehran started.
