Iran Press/ Iran News: The meeting was held on Monday afternoon at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran.
The Qatari top diplomat’s visit comes a few days before the deadline of February 21st. Iran has vowed to reduce the IAEA inspections if the US sanctions are not lifted.
Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani announced on Wednesday last week that his country was ready to support a political and diplomatic process to help Iran and the United States return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and deescalate regional tensions.
The Qatari foreign minister has arrived in Tehran to consult with his Iranian counterpart.
According to Iran's Ambassador to Doha Hamid Dehghani, the Qatari foreign minister, who is headed by a high-ranking delegation to Tehran and bilateral relations, will discuss regional and world developments in his meetings in Tehran.
In response to IRNA's question about Qatar's efforts to restore order between Iran and the United States, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said: "We welcome this assistance. Qatar is among Iran's friends and colleagues in the region. Close consultations have taken place between Iran and Qatar at various levels."
