More than 150 pro-Palestinian protestors were arrested while calling for a Gaza ceasefire in NYC as demands mount for Biden to stop giving aid to Israel

Iran PressAmerica: The rally was sponsored by NYC Democratic Socialists of America, a controversial group some politicians distanced themselves from in recent days

More than 150 pro-Palestinian protestors were arrested while calling for a Gaza ceasefire in New York City as demands mount for Biden to stop giving aid to Israel.

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered on the steps of the New York City Public Library and marched toward Senator Kirsten Gillibrand's Midtown office Friday evening, before blocking traffic on 5th Avenue.

Protestors called for the end of US aid to Israel as it defends itself against Hamas terrorists, who are holding around 200 people hostage since their brutal October 7 slaughtering that killed 1,400 people.

Rioters chanted, 'From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,' and 'Ceasefire now,' while the NYPD announced on loudspeaker that those who refused to disperse would be arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

Video footage shows officers asking each protestor individually to remove themselves from the street, before handcuffing them if they refused. New York City corrections busses drove off with those arrested as their pro-Palestine friends cheered.

Progressive Reps. Ayanna Pressley and Ilhan Omar call for a ceasefire in Gaza

A week after U.S. Sen. Ed Markey was booed for his de-escalation remarks, U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley has joined her fellow Squad members in calling for an “immediate ceasefire” in Israel and Gaza following the Hamas terrorist attacks and deadly fallout.

Pressley on Monday signed on to a progressive Congressional resolution that urges the President Biden administration to support an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Israel and Gaza. Hamas is still holding nearly 200 hostages in Gaza, according to the Israeli military.

The Boston congresswoman joined Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Cori Bush, Jamaal Bowman, and other members of Congress in backing the “Ceasefire Now Resolution.” Thirteen representatives are named in the resolution.

Ilhan Omar, a Muslim US representative, said she fears for her family’s safety after receiving an onslaught of threats for criticizing Israel’s treatment of Palestinians.

The Democratic congresswoman from Minnesota opened up in a statement about the increase in Islamophobic remarks and threats she has received, including threats directed at her family. NBC News first reported on the statement, which was later shared with the Guardian.

Omar said that she and other Muslim Americans have been negatively affected by a “dishonest smearing” that labels them as a threat for condemning Israel’s treatment of Palestine amid fighting in Gaza.
