Tehran(IP): The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran is scheduled to head for Ankara in a bid to meet with the President of Turkey to expand bilateral relations.

Iran PressIran news: Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani announced the visit of Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran, to Turkey in the first week of January 2024.

Bagheri Kani, referring to the Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Ahmet Yıldız's trip to Iran and his talks with his Iranian counterpart and Iranian Foreign Minister, said: "We have extensive relations with Turkey."

Earlier, in a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Iran described the relations between the two countries as friendly, historical, and based on good neighborliness, religious values and common interests of the two nations. He also emphasized strengthening and improving the level of cooperation and relations between Tehran and Ankara in various political, economic and cultural aspects.

International and West Asian developments, including Gaza, are going to be examined in the talks between the presidents of Iran and Turkey.

Over the past years, Turkey has been considered one of Iran's important trading partners, so according to the published statistics of Iran's customs, this country has always been among the top 5 countries in Iran's main import sources for the past 10 years.

Statistics show that the total volume of trade between Iran and Turkey in 2022 was 6 billion 420 million US dollars.

The latest statistics published by the Turkish Statistical Office show that the country's trade with Iran in the first 7 months of this year, 2023, has reached 3 billion and 25 million dollars.

Officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey have emphasized the expansion of political and economic relations between the two countries.

After Russia, Iran is the second supplier of gas to Turkey and has sent 3.9 billion cubic meters of gas to this country in 2021. 219
