Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian Ministry of Interior approved Hanachi as the new mayor of Tehran, a post which historically bestows mammoth responsibilities to the holder.
According to Iran Press, Pirouz Hanachi, 54, replaced Mohammad-Ali Afshani, who was required to leave the post under a recently-adopted law that bans retirees from being employed in government positions.
Winning 11 votes out of 21 on November 13, Hanachi became the third mayor of the city picked by the current members of the Islamic City Council of Tehran.
Hanachi is a graduate in architecture and urban restoration from the University of Tehran.
He has previously served in various positions in Tehran Municipality, Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and University of Tehran’s Faculty of Fine Arts. 101
