Iran Press/Middle East: In 1968, Jibril split from the People Front for the Liberation of Palestine, establishing the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command, with Damascus as its headquarters.
His son, Jihad Ahmad Jibril, was assassinated on May 20, 2002, by the Mossad in Beirut.
The PFLP necessitated the need for developing and expanding the solidarity activities with the Palestinians and their rights inside and outside Palestine, and through the official bodies of the international community including the United Nations and its branches.
