Iran press/ Asia: The Pakistani Prime Minister's office announced in a statement that Imran Khan would meet the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Hasan Rouhani.
Bilateral matters and important regional developments will be discussed during Imran Khan's second visit to Iran this year.
After the Iran visit, the prime minister will also pay a visit to Saudi Arabia as part of his efforts to bridge differences between Tehran and Riyadh.
Earlier, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif welcomed efforts for mediation with Saudi Arabia ahead of Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to the country.
"We've always been open to discussing anything with Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is our neighbor. We're going to be here together permanently," Zarif said in an interview with TRT World.
The announcement of the Pakistani prime minister's visit comes after The New York Times quoted officials of Iraq and Pakistan as saying that the Saudi crown prince had asked the leaders of those two countries in recent weeks to speak with their Iranian counterparts about de-escalation of tensions.
