The country is relying on vaccines from the global Covax program, but only 500,000 doses out of a promised 4.2 million have reached Yemen so far.
The director of Oxfam's Yemen office, Mohsen Siddiqi while criticizing the global discrimination in the distribution of the coronavirus vaccine, added that it is shameful that some rich countries oppose the abolition of patent protection for the vaccines, which could reduce prices and speed up the distribution in poor countries.
The unfair distribution of coronavirus vaccines around the world has been met with protests from the World Health Organization and other international organizations.
