The oil price climbed to $63 a barrel after the announcement of the impounding of a British oil tanker by the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Naval forces.

Iran Press/Middle East: The price of Brent crude, which had dropped to $ 62 last evening, rose by about $ 63 after the announcement of Iran's seizure of a British-flagged oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.

US West Texas Intermediate was up 1.5 percent at $56.15 per barrel, Reuters reported.

On Friday, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it has captured a British oil tanker, named "Stena Impero" for breaching international maritime laws while crossing the Strait of Hormuz. The oil tanker was transferred to the coast to undergo the required necessary checks and legal proceedings, the statement added. 101/211/218
