The arms' depots of Iraq's Defense Ministry were empty and the Iraqi Army had lost no less than one-third of its fighting capabilities when Daesh took control over Mosul and part's of Iraq's Salahudin and Anbar province and the Iraqi capital Baghdad as well as the Green Zone was in danger; the only country which provided assistance for Iraq in the form of equipment, training, planning as well as providing hundreds of advisors is the Islamic Republic of Iran. Therefor, Iran is a great partner in the victory that was achieved under the guidance of Supreme Ayatullah Sayed Ali Khaminai and the assistance of the IRGC headed by General Ghasim Soleimani, they have the greatest credit when it comes to assisting us in defeating Daesh" he added.
The upcoming role and current role of the Popular Mobilization Units - Hashed Shaabi - is that it is a strong security force that Iraq's Supreme Religious Leader - Sayed Ali Sistani - must persist. The Iraqi government and parliament has backed this recommendation and has passed a law to organize the function of - Hashed Shaabi. Therefor Hashed Shaabi is now a forth security apparatus which follows and complements all of the Iraqi Army, Federal Police, and Counter-Terrorism Forces. Its function will contribute to maintaining the security and stability of Iraq".Abu Mehdi Al-Mohandis also said.
According to what I personally believe and what the Popular Mobilization Units believe; we believe there is no reason for the presence of foreign troops in Iraq; but this is the government's decision and we respect it. Parliament recently issued a decision urging the Iraqi government to present a timeline for the withdrawal of these foreign troops; I believe the majority of Iraqis believe there is no justification for the presence of foreign military bases in Iraq. We as Iraqis, with the help of our friends namely the Islamic Republic of Iran, have proved that we are capable of defeating terrorism" he added.
