Hundreds of Nigerian people took to the streets in Kano State to condemn the continuation of the Israeli-American genocide and ethnic cleansing against the oppressed people of Palestine on Friday.

Why it matters:

Since Netanyahu's regime shattered a truce that had facilitated the release of hundreds of Palestinians and Zionist prisoners, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) killed nearly 600 innocent civilians in Gaza, mostly women and children.

The big picture:
Earlier before the protest, Muslims gathered at Fagge Juma'a mosque in the ancient city of Kano, where they conducted prayers and supplications for the victory of the Palestinian nation, Yemeni mujahideen, and axis of resistance who are confronting Israeli terrorism, supported by the United States.

What they're saying:
In his awareness speech shortly before the protest began at the Friday mosque, the representative of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky in Kano State, Sheikh Sunusi Abdulqadir drew the attention of Nigerian Muslims to the importance of supporting the oppressed.

The protesters marching through the streets were chanting anti-Zionism slogans and also were holding placards with inscriptions "We condemn extra-judicial killings of minority citizens by Tahrir al-Sham government in Syria"

Key Points:

  • The demonstration took place after Friday prayers.
  • The Protesters prayed for the victory of the oppressed people of Palestine.
  • They also demanded their government cut all diplomatic relations with the Zionist murderous regime.

Go deeper:

The protest occurred just a week before the International Quds Day in which people across the world come out and unite in protests to express support for the independence of Palestine and condemn Israeli terrorism.
