Iran Press/ America: The Nicaraguan Vice-President Rosario María Murillo Zambrana has announced the news; she stated that her country had received the first batch of the Iranian vaccine, consisting of 200k doses.
The consignment was handed over to the Nicaraguan health officials on June 21st in the afternoon (local time) in the presence of Iran’s Ambassador to Nicaragua Majid Salehi and Health Minister of Nicaragua Martha Reyes Alvarez.
Nicaraguan officials hoped these vaccines could help vaccinate their people against COVID-19. About 93% of Nicaraguan people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 85% of people have received two doses.
Nicaragua and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding on March 17th, 2022, when managers of the Shifa Pharmed Industrial Group affiliated with the Executive Headquarters of Imam’s Directive said it would provide Nicaragua with the COV-Iran Barekat vaccine.
The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Nicaraguan Ambassador to Iran Isaac Lenin Bravo Jaen and representatives from Iran’s health and foreign Ministries.
