Iran Press/ Iran News: The Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has the ability to use advanced equipment and weapons in the field of naval warfare to ensure maritime security in the Persian Gulf and in international waters.
Regarding the construction process of Besat heavy submarine, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani expressed hope that its construction stages will be based on the determined schedule.
Irani stated that the Iranian Navy seeks to increase joint exercises of the Navy with other countries and announced holding Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) maritime exercise which will be hosted by Iran.
As with the presence of the Iranian Navy in the Atlantic Ocean, he said that the presence of Iran's flotillas in the oceans is on the agenda of the Iranian Navy.
IONS is a voluntary initiative that seeks to increase maritime co-operation among navies of the littoral states of the Indian Ocean Region by providing an open and inclusive forum for discussion of regionally relevant maritime issues.
