Mashhad (IP) - Alongside various precious works, the Holy Quran museum in Mashhad located at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) showcases 17 manuscripts of the Holy Book and Quranic pamphlets attributed to the holy Prophet’s Infallible Household.

The Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad, the capital city of Khorasan Razavi, is a complex which contains the mausoleum of Imam Reza, the eighth Imam of Shias.

The Imam Reza shrine is the largest mosque in the world by area. Also contained within the complex are the Goharshad Mosque, a museum, a library, four seminaries, a cemetery, the Razavi University of Islamic Sciences, a dining hall for pilgrims, vast prayer halls, and other buildings.

Among the invaluable cache, there is the oldest Quranic pamphlet endowed for Imam Reza’s sake dating to more than one thousand years back, a copy of the Holy Quran with Middle Persian translation of Sistani dialect from 6th century AH, and eight pages of the most prominent Quranic manuscript known as the Baysunghur Quran.

One of the sections in the museum is allocated to the gifts granted by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, which include exquisite copies of the Holy Quran. Overall, the Holy Quran and the Leader’s gifts museum put 130 copies of the Holy Book, Quranic pamphlets, and precious Quranic works on display.
