Beirut (IP) – Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced on Sunday that the ongoing displacement crisis is the largest in Lebanon’s history, with projections that the number of displaced persons could soon reach one million. As regional tensions escalate, the country faces immense pressure to provide aid and shelter to those fleeing Israeli aggression.

Iran Press/West Asia: Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Mikati emphasized the government's efforts to mobilize resources. "The state is doing everything necessary, mobilizing all our capabilities to meet the needs of the displaced," he said. "We expect the number of displaced people to reach one million."

Mikati also addressed the continued Israeli aggressions, which have intensified across southern Lebanon. "Our top priority is to stop the ongoing Zionist aggression on Lebanon," he declared, pointing to the toll it is taking on both civilians and infrastructure.

The outcome of the recent Israeli aggressions against Lebanon during the past seven days was the killing of 783 civilians, the health ministry of Lebanon has announced.

In response to the growing humanitarian crisis, Mikati said Lebanon would appeal to international donors for aid. "We are working to secure all the resources the displaced need, and we will request assistance from donor countries. However, we will only accept aid where the source is transparent and known to us," he added.
