Iran Press/Middle East: Speaking on the sidelines of the Indian National Day ceremony held in the Indian embassy in Kuwait city on Tuesday, al-Jarallah said: "Kuwait supports its Qatari brothers' policy of getting closer to Iran, Turkey and Iraq".
According to Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister, Doha has the right to establish ties with any country it desires, but the relations should not be misinterpreted as its 'alienation from the Persian Gulf states', IRNA news agency reported.
Earlier, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the Deputy Prime Minister and Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs, had said that Iran is a neighbour of ours and part of the regional geography and hoped that the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) would have positive and constructive talks with Iran.

The Kuwaiti deputy foreign minister said that there is no sign that the rift between Qatar and Persian Gulf Cooperation Council - mainly Saudi Arabia - would be solved anytime soon. Saudi Arabia has tried to isolate Qatar for almost two years now, within the Persian Gulf region, cutting off all land, sea and air links to the country. In response, Qatar has moved closer to other regional countries such as the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey.

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates accused Qatar to support terrorism in June 2017, cut their ties with the country, and closed their sea, land, and air ways with Qatar.
Later, they issued a statement proposing 13 conditions for re-establishing ties with Qatar, one of which was cutting relations with Iran.
This was while Doha had demanded unconditional talks.
