Khorzuq (IP) - What has made Khorzuq in Isfahan province special and popular these days is the traditional art of Kalamkari, or fabric painting.

Only natural dyes are used in Kalamkari, which involves twenty-three steps.

If you travel to Isfahan, which is home to the patterns and colors, the antiquity of this beautiful hand art can be seen by looking at the faces of veteran artists and the peak of creativity and innovation is reflected in the faces of the youth.

Khorzuq means the land of the sun, whose light and brightness can be seen in the hands of its young people as they displayed the magnificent art of Kalamkari in their city on the tablecloths.

Most of the residents of Khorzuq economically depend on more than 80 traditional workshops which deal directly with the art of Kalamkari, and you can see the enthusiasm of its young artists in innovation and the use of beautiful colors on cotton fabrics.

These traditional table cloths were at the peak of their existence in the historical Safavid Era, and they stood out in the traditional clothes of the past and prospered for many years. But now, this beautiful art is not only used as tablecloths but also in the clothing of women and men; it has become an adornment of houses.

A considerable part of these exquisite works have been welcomed by domestic and foreign tourists, including European countries, and a part of Iran's handicrafts export is made up of these tablecloths with a thousand patterns and colors of Kalamkari.

All the stages of preparation of these traditional tablecloths, from the preparation of cotton fabric to knotting and printing, preparation of natural dyes and dyeing, and preparation of wooden stamps, are done in the city of Khorzuq, and finally, a lasting and durable masterpiece is produced.

Many young people of Khorzuq city, which is known as the capital of Iran's Kalamkari table cloth, are not worried about employment, and the enthusiasm and meaning of entrepreneurship and employment can be seen in home and traditional workshops.

Khorzuq youths are the hopeful faces of families that have a useful activity both in the field of production and in the field of export of the luxurious handicrafts of painting on fabric.
