Iran Press/ Iran News: Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi rejected the Bahraini government's decision to issue a judicial order against Al-Mustaqbal Bank, its executives, and several other Iranian banks, saying: "The verdicts were based on a fake case and the allegations lack any legal value."
"The Bahraini government is responsible for its consequences. Obviously Iran will not neglect to defend the interests and rights of its citizens,” Mousavi added.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman further stated: “Al-Mustaqbal Bank was established in 2004 with the proposal of the Government of Bahrain, and was established with equal participation of Bank Melli Iran and Bank Saderat Iran and Bahraini Al-Ahly Bank. From its beginning, the central bank of Bahrain has been in constant oversight of banking activities and transactions through its supervisory departments and representatives on the board of Al-Mustaqbal Bank."
Mousavi added that the political and illegal action of the Bahraini government to seize and run that through the Bahraini Central Bank on April 30, 2015, prompted its Iranian shareholders (Bank Melli Iran and Bank Saderat Iran) to pursue the matter through an international court. In such circumstances, judicial order is incomprehensible and can only indicate that the court lacks legal authority and merely enforces the orders and decisions of the Bahraini political and security apparatus.
He added, the Bahraini government's move is to divert public opinion from its illegal takeover of the bank and an attempt to overshadow the international judgment process in the complaint of the Iranian side of Al-Mustaqbal Bank against the Bahraini government and it is rejected by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
