IP - Hours after Iranian Foreign Minister Abas Araghchi secured a vote of confidence in Iran's Parliament, Kamikawa Yoko, Japan's Foreign Affairs Minister in a congratulatory letter to her Iranian counterpart calls for further development of the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

Iran Press/Iran News: Japan's Foreign Ministry in a statement issued on its website and its X account said that "on August 21, Japan Foreign Minister Mrs. Kamikawa sent a congratulatory letter to 'H.E. Dr. Seyyed Abbas Araghchi', Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who took office on the same day.

The statement in Japan's Foreign Ministry Website further said: "In the letter, Minister Kamikawa expressed her high hope for Iran to play a more constructive role towards peace and stability in the Middle East and to advance cooperation with the international community.

"Minister Kamikawa also stated that she seeks to work together with the new Foreign Minister Araghchi, a former ambassador to Japan and an expert on Japan, to further develop the bilateral relationship based on the historically friendly relations and to cooperate closely to ease tensions and stabilize the situation in the Middle East."

On Wedensday, Seyed Abbas Araghchi former Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister 'from 2017 to 2021' secured a vote of confidence from Iran's Parliament and was appointed as new Iranian Foreign Minister.

Araghchi was secretary of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations since 2021. 

Araghchi also was a top Iranian negotiator in Iran's nuclear deal with world powers in 2015.
