Israeli forces demolished 20 Palestinian homes in East Al-Quds overnight Monday.

Israeli forces demolished 20 built, single- and multi-storey family homes in East Al-Quds overnight Monday.

Israel claims those structures were built without permits, and that is the justification for the demolitions. Critics believe that it’s part of a systemic effort to remove Palestinians from their land, and there is considerable evidence suggesting emptying this land is a policy goal of the Israeli government for building new complexes for Jewish people.

The refusal to provide permits, and the quick and often harsh demolition actions, stand in stark contrast to the support of the Israeli government for illegal outposts, that is illegal under Israeli law, which are often Jewish-built homes with government support in this land and which are rarely destroyed despite being built without permits or planning.

A new Palestinian report reveals that Israel demolished five thousand homes in Paletaine since 1967 as well as the demolition of  whole neighborhoods in the eastern part of  Al-Quds.

Land Research Center states that Israel has been systematically demolishing Palestinian neighborhoods since 1967.

The report, issued by the Land Research Center (LRC), also noted that the 380,000 Palestinians need 2,000 new housing units annually, and that half of them today live in unlicensed homes.

According to the report, Al-Quds municipality has put in place a series of procedures that would make Palestinian construction in Al-Quds impossible,  the cost of a permit is estimated at $30,000 a home.

According to a new report, Israel demolished 1,706 Palestinian homes between 2000 and 2017, displacing 9,422 Palestinians, including 5,443 children.
