Iran Press/ Iran News: Imam Khomeini (RA), the great founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in view of the conspiracies and sinister plans of the enemies, in a far-sighted action on 2nd of Ordibehesht 1358 (22 April,1979), through a decree to the Revolution Council, officially announced the establishment of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).
On the eve of the founding anniversary of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces , in a message to Major General Hossein Salami, the Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, stressed that the IRGC is an important pillar of protecting the Revolution, and it is an Islamic system and its authority, readiness and all-round strategic capabilities have not only caused the security and peace of the great nation of Iran and increased the country's deterrence power, but also it is source of the fear and anger in the camp of the different enemies of this land.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces stated: "The need of the Revolution and the country, which have marked the field of the IRGC in major and decisive security and defense incidents, as well as the construction and elimination of deprivation, are clearly reminiscent of the immortal words of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran after four decades, saying: "If there were no IRGC, there would be no country."
