Sistan and Baluchestan (IP) - A member of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), Vahid Akbarian, was martyred in a terrorist attack on Monday in Saravan County, located in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

Iran Press/Iran news: The IRGC’s Public Relations Office in the northern province of Golestan confirmed the news in a statement, mourning the loss of Akbarian, who hailed from Gorgan County in northern Iran. At the time of the attack, he was serving in the IRGC Ground Forces.

This region, near Iran’s borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan, is frequently the site of security operations due to the presence of armed groups involved in terrorism, arms trafficking, and drug smuggling.

In related developments, Brigadier General Ahmad Shafaei, the spokesperson for the ongoing “Martyrs of Security” drills in southeastern Iran, reported on Friday that IRGC forces had neutralized 23 terrorists and detained 46 others during recent operations aimed at bolstering security in the region.

Sistan and Baluchestan, a strategic yet volatile province, often sees coordinated operations by security and police personnel aimed at thwarting terror plots and smuggling activities. This latest attack highlights the continued challenges faced by Iranian forces in ensuring stability in the area.
