Iraqi lawmakers urge international court order against US

A number of Iraqi lawmakers called for an international court order against the US over the assassinations of Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani.

Iran Press/Middle East: In a statement issued Sunday, the Iraqi lawmakers described the silence against the US crimes as betrayal and called on the Iraqi government to take a courageous stand against the violation of its sovereignty.

The Iraqi parliamentarians also called for an international court's order to arrest US President Donald Trump.

Iraqi Fatah Alliance also called on the government to accelerate the filing of a formal complaint about the assassination of the Second-in-Command of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Abu Mahdi al- Muhandis to the UN.

On 3 January 2020, the US assassinated the Commander of Qods Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, who went to Iraq on the official invitation of the Iraqi government, along with his companions including the Iraqi PMU Second-in-Command Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis near Baghdad Airport.
