The Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq announced on Tuesday night that all the courts of this country will resume their activities today, Wednesday.

On Tuesday morning, hundreds of supporters of the Sadr movement went to the Supreme Judicial Council and started to set up tents for a sit-in.

Protesters chanted slogans about the implementation of Moqtada Sadr's call to dissolve the parliament in preparation for early parliamentary elections.

Following the gathering of a number of supporters of the Sadr movement in front of the Supreme Judicial Council on Tuesday, this council issued a statement announcing the suspension of its activities, the federal court of this country, and held the government and implicitly the Sadr movement responsible for this situation.

A statement of the Supreme Judicial Council stated that “in view of the withdrawal of the demonstrators and the lifting of the siege on the building of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Federal Supreme Court, it was decided to resume work normally in all courts as of tomorrow morning, Wednesday.”

The Supreme Judicial Council thanked all local and international parties and personalities that support the judiciary and are keen on the principle of the rule of law and respect for the constitution. 219
