Tokyo (IP) - An Iranology conference was held in Tokyo with the participation of Iranian and Japanese thinkers.

Iran PressAsia: In the conference, which was held online and in-person with the participation of the Iranology Foundation, the Saadi Foundation, and the Department of Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japanese and Iranian Iranologists spoke about the challenges they face.

Japanese and Iranian Iranologists attended the Ferdowsi Hall of the Iranian Embassy in Tokyo and presented their speeches in the webinar for online participants.

 On the sidelines of the conference, an exhibition of about 120 historical documents on Iran-Japan bilateral relations, was held along with images from the 'Beautiful Iran' exhibition.

An 800-year-old Iranian manuscript given to a Japanese monk in the Chinese port of Zaytun or Quanzhou is also on display.

"Persian manuscript in Japan, also called Nanban, is a Persian inscription from 1217 AD that was written by a Persian in Quanzhou of China for a Japanese monk Keisei, a poem of Shahname Ferdusi. It is designated as a national important cultural property (artwork) in Japan. It is the oldest existing Persian document in Japan.

The Persian manuscript in Japan had been written in 3 parts. they were very famous poems in the Persian language. the first part is from Veis and Rāmin second part is from Shahnameh and the third part is mentioned both in Jami'al-tawarikh and also Shahnameh and it is sorrow farewell of Iraj from Fereydun.
