Jonathan Bet-Kelia, representative of the Assyrian community in the Majlis

An Iranian MP representing the Assyrian minority, Jonathan Bet-Kelia, has said the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo should study Iran's constitution before expressing his opinion.

Iran Press/Iran News: Jonathan Bet-Kelia added: "I advise the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to firstly read the Iranian constitution then express his view on it."

Speaking at the open session of the parliament on Tuesday, Mohammad Ashouri, representative of Bandar Abbas, Mohammad Biranvandi, representative Khorramabad, and Jonathan Bet-Kelia the representative of the Assyrian community in the parliament delivered their speeches.

Jonathan Bet-Kelia congratulated the Assyrians, Christians, and Muslims of Iran on the occasion of the birth of Prophet Jesus (PBUH) and asked God Almighty peace and tranquility on earth in the new year.

Referring to the presence of the Assyrians in all scenes to defend Iran, he added, "In all the sensitive junctures of the country, the role of the Assyrians has been very important."

He condemned so-called human rights defenders' statements against Iran adding, "The US president is stepping up pressure on Iran every day, while the US House of Representatives has voted to impeach him and hopefully with the proving of the accusations against him, the world will be a safer place".

"As a Christian, I advise the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to firstly read the Iranian constitution then express his view on it," he said.

The Iranian parliament will be closed for ten days and the next session will be January 5th.
