Iran's foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, left New York for Tehran at the end of his six-day working trip and after taking part in the UN general assembly high-level meeting on "Sustaining Peace".

During his stay in New York, Zarif delivered a speech at the UN general assembly meeting, and was interviewed by a number of  American media outlets including CBS, Al-Monitor, NPR, Associated Press, New Yorker magazine, and The New York Times. 

He also participated in a Council of Foreign Relations meeting Tuesday night, made an opening speech and answered questions raised by the audience.

In his interviews, Zarif commented on the latest developments relating to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and Iran's options  if the United States decides to unilaterally withdraw from the nuclear agreement.  He also commented on other regional issues such as the crises in Syria and Yemen.

He also held separate talks with the UN secretary general, the chairman of the UN General Assembly, and his counterparts from Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Germany and Poland.
