New York (IP) - In the meeting with his French counterpart, the Iranian president emphasized Tehran's readiness to reach a fair and stable agreement and said: "The prerequisite for reaching an agreement is reassuring guarantees and the closing of IAEA's safeguard on Iran's case."

Iran PressAmerica: He called for the level of cooperation and relations between Iran and France to be improved and said: "Europe should show in practice that it is not subject to the US in its policies."

French President Emmanuel Macron, for his part, said that the US withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) while the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) had declared Iran's full compliance with its obligations. The European parties also failed to fulfill their obligations regarding Iran's use of the economic benefits of the agreement.

Macron invited the president of Iran to visit France and said that Tehran and Paris could increase their cooperation in bilateral relations, economic issues, and developments in the region.

The Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is set to address the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York Wednesday morning local time.

The talk was Raisi’s first head-to-head meeting with the French president since he was elected last year.

The meeting comes amid efforts by the EU to revive the 2015 nuclear talks, which despite notable progress, the US indecisiveness and procrastination caused multiple interruptions in the marathon negotiations.
