Iran Press/ Iran news: On Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi once again condemned the attack on the Iranian consulate building and said that the Islamic Republic “has conveyed its concerns to the host government through political channels and stressed the importance of guaranteeing the security of Iran’s diplomatic and consular missions in Iraq within the framework of international regulations and conventions.”
Mousavi asked Baghdad to adopt more security measures to that effect.
Earlier on November 4, a group of unknown individuals scaled the concrete barriers surrounding the diplomatic complex in Karbala late on Sunday, and spray-painted scurrilous writings on its perimeter walls.
Some other demonstrators also threw stones and burned tires around the Iranian consulate building, prompting Iraqi security forces to fire in the air to disperse the crowd.
Iranian Consul General in Karbala Mir-Masoud Husseinian said that the situation was under control when the gathering took placed. 205/211/219
