Moscow (IP) - Iran's ambassador to Russia emphasized expanding parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Russia.

Iran PressIran news: Kazem Jalali, Iran's ambassador to Russia, met Leonid Slutsky, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma's Committee on International Affairs, on Wednesday. 

In the meeting, Jalali pointed to the critical role of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in cementing ties between the continent's nations, saying the development of parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Russia is on the agenda. 

Iranian ambassador emphasized the further visits of Parliamentary delegations of Iran and Russia to deepen the Iran-Russia ties. 

Jalali called on bilateral follow-ups for facilitating the Rasht-Astara railway construction.

He appreciated the Russian President and the State Duma's positions in condemning the Holy Quran's desecration in some European countries. 

Leonid Slutsky emphasized the development of bilateral ties between the two countries in all fields, including the acceleration of the North-South Transport corridor and the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway.

"The interaction between Iran and Russia continues as two strategic allies, and bilateral cooperation in economy, security, and culture is expanding," said Russia's Slutsky.

In appreciation for the cementing of Tehran-Moscow parliamentary ties, Slutsky announced Russia's willingness to participate in the upcoming meeting of the Asia Parliamentary Forum at the initiative of Iran. 

Slutsky also condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden and Denmark and said that no one has the right to insult holy things and that the insults carried out in some European countries are miscalculations. 

On Thursday, July 20, for the second time in the last few weeks, Salwan Momika, an Iraqi-Swedish citizen, insulted the Holy Quran with the support of the Swedish police. A violent action that brought the reaction of Muslim countries.

Recently, the members of an Islamophobic and far-right Danish nationalist group called Danish Patriots burned a copy of the Holy Quran in front of the Iraqi embassy and again in front of the Egyptian and Turkish embassies in Copenhagen.
