Thailand (IP) - The U17 football team of Iran emerged victorious over Yemen in the quarterfinals of the 2023 AFC U17 Asian Cup, securing their spot in the tournament's next stage and qualifying for the upcoming World Cup.

Iran PressAsia: The match between the two teams ended in a 0-0 draw, resulting in penalties to determine the winner. Iran emerged victorious with a score of 4-2, thanks to their goalkeeper, who saved two kicks.

This victory has secured Iran a place in the semifinals of the Asian competitions and also puts them in contention for the FIFA U17 World Cup Indonesia 2023. Prior to this match, Iran had already defeated Afghanistan and South Korea and tied with Qatar in Group B.

In the upcoming semifinal match on Thursday, Hossein Abdi's team will face the winners of the game between Japan and Australia.
