Iran Press/ Iran news: Ali-Akbar Mehrabian made the remarks on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the first exhibition of innovative and technological products of the electric power industry in Tehran on Monday.
He pointed out that the two countries had agreed on upgrading the power transmission infrastructure between the two neighboring states and added that a back-to-back system had recently been set up for power exchange.
In July, he said that the two states agreed to utilize the modern HVDC Back-to-Back method to connect the Iranian power grid to Turkiye in the Khoy-Bash Gala infrastructure with a 600-megawatt capacity.
The Iranian energy minister underlined that the administration of President Raisi had prioritized power diplomacy.
He noted that the recent visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Tehran paved the way for expanding coordination in this regard and that developing power diplomacy was one of the main topics of negotiations among presidents of Russia, Turkey, and Iran during the Astana peace summit on July 19, 2022.
