Iranian Foreign Minister said that Iran will take the 4th step towards reducing its commitments to Iran Nuclear Deal if the EU fails to comply with its commitments, adding that Iran is totally opposed to the FATF's recent 'political' decision.

Iran PressIran news: "We have not yet made a final decision on what kind of action we will take for the fourth step, and we will announce it until the Supreme National Security Council makes that decision, and if the Europeans unable to live up to its obligations by that time, we are taking the fourth step," the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told the reporters on the sidelines of the first conference on unilateralism and international law in response to a question about Iran's fourth step in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on European non-compliance.

FATF's decision, 'political'

Zarif noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran pursues anti-money laundering in its domestic law as a necessity and objective and stated that FATF's decision is deeply political and Iran is totally opposed to it.

Regarding the FATF warning to the Islamic Republic of Iran, he added that: "We have taken all necessary steps to combat the financing of terrorism and to combat money laundering for the sake of own interests."

The Foreign Minister described the ratification of the Anti-Money Laundering Bill in the Government and the Judiciary as an important step for Iran and went on to say that it was a comprehensive law and hopefully with internal convergence and further measures it will prevent those who are not pursuing Iranian interests and are opposed to the Islamic Republic to have any pretexts against the country. 

President Rouhani's attendance to Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit

Referring to Wednesday's trip to the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and President Rouhani's presence in the summit in Baku, Zarif said: "The NAM Summit will be held on Friday. The experts' meeting is underway and the meeting on the ministerial level will kick off on Wednesday. President will attend the summit."

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is an active member of the Non-Aligned Movement and it is very important for this movement to stand against unilateralism," he highlighted, adding that Iran's policies are in line with non-aligned policies.

The Iranian Foreign Minister stated that Iran's presence is due to the non-aligned membership and Iran was chairing a while ago, as well as an opportunity to consult and discuss international and regional situations, especially the Syrian situation.

Referring to Lebanon's developments, the Foreign Minister noted: "We have always been with the people of the region and we believe that while maintaining security, peace, and stability, their rightful needs and desires must be taken into account. We hope that the Lebanese government and parties will continue to work with the Lebanese people and paying attention to the demands of the people to make Lebanon better and more prosperous, and we have always been with the people, the government and the officials of this country."
