Iran considers the designation of a country-specific human right rapporteur for Iran as "unnecessary", saying that such a move contradicts the mechanism of HRC, said Mohammad Javad Larijani, Head of Iran's High Council for Human Rights in the thirty-seventh United Nations Human Rights Council meeting this morning.
Speaking to the reporters on the sideline of the meeting, he stressed that Iran is looking for a human right that respects human dignity.
He denounced Israeli's representative comments against Iran and added: "it is hilarious that the representative of a regime, quite well known for killing children, is criticizing Iran."
Larijani stressed that Iran is seriously opposed to UN appointing special Rapporteur for Islamic Republic and will continue to express its opposition.
He also said that Iranian delegation, with assistance of its embassy, judiciary as well as the HCHR had responded to each and every accusation against the country using a wide range of documents. "Iran's efforts at the 37th meeting of UNHRC left enemies with no option but admit to the huge advancements made by Tehran in human rights areas.
The official went on to add that the US and Europe think they have a lasting success, while the human rights situation in these countries is in its worst state, and one day, the disastrous human rights conditions in these countries resulting in atrocities that humans are facing need to be prosecuted.
"At the ongoing Human Rights Council meeting, Australia spoke on under-eighteen executions in Iran and raised criticisms against our country," stressed Larijani adding "Australia possesses the worst record on its own indigenous people and has committed genocide continuously and directly; only a few months ago, a pregnant Iranian woman was imprisoned without charge only because Americans were upset and suspicious and she was forced to give birth to her child inside the jail."
The official, in response to a question about necessary reforms that have to take place in the human rights structure of the world, said "in view of the existing atmosphere and the frankness with which the Islamic Republic of Iran expresses its views, independent countries are likely to hear our voice which is much-sought by the world as a means of eliminating practical disputes.
Mohammad Javad Larijani, while stressing that human rights should be based on human dignity bestowed upon all humans by God, said the concept was not a charitable gift from the UN, the US or Western countries.
In an interview with Al Mayadeen television channel, Secretary of Iran's High Council for Human Rights Mohammad Javad Larijani referred to the dual policies of the West in the field of human rights adding "the human rights campaign presented by the Americans and their European allies are based on hypocrisy, dual standards, racism and selfishness."
On aggressive remarks made against Iran at the UNHRC's meeting in Geneva, the official said "this has been the case since victory of the Islamic Revolution 40 years ago and the major point is for the world to hear the real voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
