Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking at a UN security council meeting dedicated to the situation in Palestine and the Middle East, GholamAli Khoshrou added, "The United States cannot conceal or cover up Israeli crimes against Palestinian children."
According to an Iran Press report, Khoshrou emphasised that the situation in Palestine is steadily getting worse, citing over 200 Palestinians martyred and more that 22000 injured since last March, when Palestinians began their “Great March of Return” demonstrations, mainly along Gaza's border with occupied Palestine.
Khoshrou added: "What the Palestinians are demanding is the right to return to their ancestral homes from which they were expelled by force, and the right to have an independent government and independent country of their own. This is their lawful and natural right."
Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations added: "The Israeli regime is killing Palestinians simply because they are Palestinians. The Israeli regime does not recognise the basic rights of Palestinians, even the most basic and fundamental 'right to live'. This is the result of 70 years of oppression of the Palestinians, riding roughshod over Palestinian rights -- a sorry state of affairs which has lasted for so long because of unstinting US support for the Zionist regime, and the inability or indifference of the United Nations to do anything about it."
Elsewhere in his remarks, Khoshrou said: "The United States has vetoed no less than 44 security council resolutions which sought to condemn the Zionist regime. In total, the UN security council has approved about 300 resolutions in connection to Palestine and Israel, but the Israeli regime has disrespected and infringed virtually all of them. In fact the Israeli regime is first and foremost when it comes to violating and ignoring UN security council resolutions."
Turning to completely false allegations by Nikki Haley, the outgoing US ambassador to the United Nations who has accused Iran of using child soldiers in Syria, Khoshrou said: "The United States cannot conceal or cover up Israeli crimes -- and by extension American crimes -- against Palestinian children who are routinely shot and killed or jailed by the Zionist regime."
Iran's ambassador to UN poignantly added: "Nikki Haley who pretends to be concerned about the well-being of Iranian children failed to mention anything about Iranian children killed in the eight-year-war with Iraq -- many of whom were killed by US weaponry supplied to Iraqi dictator Saddam and his army, or for that matter, the 66 Iranian children killed by US warship USS Vincennes in July 1988, when a missile fired by the US warship struck an Iranian commercial passenger plane over the waters of the Persian Gulf, killing everyone on board the plane, including 66 children."
