Iran Press/ Iran News: The Persian Gulf is a waterway with an area of more than 237,000 square kilometers located along the Sea of Oman, lies between the Arabian Peninsula and southwestern Iran.
Despite all the historical documents and evidence, in recent decades, some countries have tried to use fake terms for the Persian Gulf by distorting the identity and history of the region.
Historical documents show that the region's identity has been associated with the name of the Persian Gulf since ancient times.
Iran's member of the parliament, Nasrullah Pejmanfar objected in an open session on Wednesday to the recent Canadian government's move, January 26, 2022, saying that the government, which is still under British slavery, has used the term "Arab Gulf" instead of the historical and permanent term of "Persian Gulf".
The representative of the people of Mashhad said: "The Canadian government itself is still in British slavery and they are interfering in issues that are not related to them."
He also called on Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdolhian to address the issue.
Other lawmakers also supported the objection.
