Iran Press /Iran news: Seyyed Hossein Naghavi Hosseini in an exclusive interview with Iran Press News Agency insisted that Parliament (Majlis) can't resolve or rectify the Guardian Council's objections to the content of the "Combating the Financing of Terrorism" (CFT) bill, and the bill will be sent back to the Guardian Council and finally the Expediency Discernment Council will reject the bill as 'contrary to Iran's National security'.
"Expediency Discernment Council later declared its opinion to the Guardian Council and the Council forwarded the opinion to parliament. Thus the Expediency Council's opinion is that if the objections relating to the content of CFT can't be resolved, the CFT bill goes against Iran's National security and will be rejected," Seyyed Hossein Naghavi Hosseini added.
The senior MP added: "The Guardian Council raised 22 objections to the CFT amendment bill which approved by parliament and Guardian council emphasized that if the objections can't be removed, the bill is against national interests and against sharia law."

Therefore, objections discussed comprehensively in the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Parliament , some of objections raised by Guardian Council was related to the shape of the bill and rights of its authority which reformed somewhat but the objections related to the content of CFT can't be solved thus National Security and Foreign Policy Commission only choice is to insisting on its last legislation, Member of Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said.
Seyyed Hossein Naghavi Hosseini said: "It was normal that CFT bill referred back to the parliament and parliament also insist on its last legislation which means objections raised by Guardian Council isn't removed and according to Guardian Council and Expediency Discernment Council's observations, CFT bill goes against Iran's national interests and sharia law."
To fulfill Financial Action Task Force (FATF) requirements, President Hassan Rouhani’s administration has proposed four bills to the parliament for approval, two of which are still undecided, including the Palermo Convention.
Back on October 7, the Iranian Parliament had approved the bill on the country’s accession to the CFT treaty.
Later, the Guardian Council’s announced that the council had examined the bill and decided it has some flaws and ambiguities, sending the bill back to the parliament for discussion.

In Wednesday's (5 Dec) session, chaired by Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and attended by 207 lawmakers, an amendment to Article 1 of the bill was approved by 125 votes in favor.
The mentioned article will be sent to the Council of Guardians for approval.
The parliamentarians insisted on their legislation on Article 2 of the bill and did not approve objections raised by the Guardian Council.
Therefore, the Article 2 of the bill on Iran’s accession to CFT treaty will be sent to the Expediency Council for further scrutiny. 101/205/211
