Tehran (IP)- Iran's non-oil foreign trade, including imports and exports, has experienced a substantial increase over the past three years, according to the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

Iran PressIran news: Mohammad Rezvani-Far announced that non-oil trade rose from $74 billion in 2020 to $116 billion in 2023, representing a 57% increase. The weight of non-oil trade also saw a significant rise, reaching 167 million tons in 2023, up from 147 million tons in 2020, marking a 20% increase. Non-oil exports experienced a substantial surge, reaching $49 billion in 2023, a 40% increase compared to 2020's $35 billion.

Imports also saw a notable increase, totaling $66 billion in the previous year. Notably, $2 billion was allocated to the import of gold bars, and $2.6 billion was spent on trucks and coaches. The head of IRICA highlighted that Iran's foreign trade with neighboring countries had increased by 10% in 2023, surpassing $61 billion.

Transit of goods through Iran also saw a significant increase, with 17.8 million tons transited in 2023, representing a 54% surge compared to the previous year. Customs revenues experienced remarkable growth, rising from 27 thousand billion tomans in 2020 to 247 thousand billion tomans in 2023, marking a nine-fold increase.

The surge in Iran's non-oil foreign trade comes amid ongoing efforts to strengthen economic ties with other countries and improve the country's financial prospects.
