Tehran (IP) - In a phone conversation with his French counterpart Stéphane Séjourné on Friday, Iran's New Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the Israeli assassination of Haniyeh in Tehran is an unforgivable violation of Iran's security and sovereignty.

Iran Press/Iran News: In this phone conversation, Iran's Foreign Minister while emphasizing the historical record of relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and France, expressed Tehran's readiness to strengthen constructive dialogues to expand cooperation between the two states.

The top Iranian diplomat said that the criminal action of the Israeli regime in the assassination of the political leader of Hamas in Tehran was an unforgivable violation of Iran's security and sovereignty, stressing Tehran's right to punish Israel.

Referring to the complexity of issues in the West Asian region, the Israeli regime's policies to intensify tension and expand the scope of instability throughout the region, the Iranian Foreign Minister urged France and other Western parties to prevent the spread of war and tensions by containing the Israeli aggressiveness. 

The French foreign minister, for his part, referred to the ongoing diplomatic efforts to achieve a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.

He also stressed the necessity of dialogue with all parties to reduce tension and achieve peace.

The French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs also shared his very deep concern regarding the rising tensions in the region. He called on his counterpart to do his utmost to avoid a regional conflagration, which would not be in the interest of anyone.
