Tehran (IP) - The Spokesman for the Judiciary of Iran says court sessions on 'Ukrainian Plane Crash' will be held soon and it is not within the jurisdiction of another country to comment on the incident.

Iran PressIran news: In response to Iran Press' question on the investigation of courts over the 'Ukrainian Plane Crash', Gholamhossein Esmaili highlighted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly stated that the only credible judicial authority to investigate the issue was the Iranian judicial department of the Armed Forces which has carried out detailed and expert investigations in this regard.

On January 08, 2020, a passenger plane belonging to Ukrainian Airlines was mistakenly shot down in Iran’s airspace shortly after its take-off en route to Kyiv. 167 passengers and nine crew members died in the incident.

Responding to another question of IP on the Judiciary's measures to pursue Iranian compatriots' rights living in Canada who were facing difficulties to vote in Iran's 13th presidential elections, Esmaili said: "Some countries like Canada, which advocates democracy, ban Iranians living there, 500,000 of whom were eligible to vote, from attending the ballot boxes of their country's presidential election, so for voting, they have to travel to other countries."

Esmaili expressed hope that Iran's Foreign Ministry would pursue the case and takes necessary actions.

The 13th Iranian Presidential Elections will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021, in full compliance with hygienic protocols.
