Iranian Foreign Minister Mohmmad Javad Zarif held phone talks with his European counterparts on US new sanction against Iran.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohmmad Javad Zarif held phone talks with foreign ministers of Germany, Sweden, Denmark and with EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini on Friday to discuss reimposition of unilateral US sanctions on Iran.

Zarif discussed US move to re-enforce sanctions against Iran and efforts of Europe to deal with it, with EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini Federica Mogherini, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, Denmark's Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen, and Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström, Mehr News Agency reported.

Mogherini and three European foreign ministers emphasized their commitments to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and efforts to maintain effective financial channels with Iran, as well as the continuation of Iranian oil and gas exports.

They also highly regarded the commitment of finance ministers in addition to the foreign ministers of the three European countries and other members for the implementation of Special Purpose Vehicle, announcing that the mechanism will be officially in place in the coming days.

Zarif and his Danish counterpart also discussed Denmark's Police's recent allegations against Iranian government to carry out a plot to assassinate an Iranian Arab opposition figure on its soil.

France, Germany, Britain and the European Union on Friday issued a joint condemnation of the United States’ move to place fresh sanctions on the Iranian economy, vowing to protect European companies doing "legitimate" business with Tehran.

In a joint statement issued, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and the E3 ministers of foreign affairs and finance expressed “deep regret” over the reimposition of unilateral US sanctions on Iran and vowed to preserve and maintain “effective financial channels with Iran, and the continuation of Iran’s export of oil and gas.”

Foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi told IRIB that Iran had "the knowledge and the capability to manage the country's economic affairs".

The Trump administration is set to reimpose all sanctions against Iran that had been lifted as part of the 2015 nuclear agreement, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said.

On November 5, the second round of US restrictions against Iran, re-introduced after the US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), will come into effect. 101/201
