Iran Press/ America: Majid Takht-Ravanchi, on Sunday, at the UN Security Council's emergency meeting to review the latest developments in Palestine, added: "Simultaneously with this meeting, the savage forces of the Israeli regime are committing a real massacre in Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip. There are 192 people, including 58 children and 34 women, who have been martyred so far."
He went on to describe these crimes: “They cowardly kill defenseless women; They brutally kill infants and children; They brutally kill families together; They shamelessly insult holy places; Cowardly bomb and shell residential areas, schools, and health facilities; And they are madly destroying homes and, in a word, committing all four major international crimes simultaneously.”
Iran's representative to the United Nations pointed out: “How can the Israeli regime commit such crimes with complete impunity? Because for more than seven decades, the Security Council has been deadly silent in the face of all the illegal actions of that regime. As a result of this absolute and unjustifiable inaction, the trust and confidence in this institution have been reduced, the crisis of its credibility and legitimacy has been created, and the Israeli regime has seriously dared to commit more crimes with more brutality."
In response to the question of why the Security Council has remained silent in the face of such crimes, threats, and aggression for so long, he said: "The answer is simple; because the United States, as a permanent member of the Security Council, both Democrats and Republicans, has systematically supported the Israeli regime against any Security Council action and has so far vetoed 44 draft Security Council resolutions that were against Israel."
Reacting to the remarks made today by the representative of the Israeli regime, he said: "He tried to divert attention from the crimes of Israel through pretending to be innocent and brazenly defend the killing of Palestinian women and children.
The Permanent Representative of Iran to the United Nations emphasized: “The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns all the crimes of that regime against the Palestinians, supports the full realization of all inalienable rights of Palestinians, especially their inherent right to self-determination."
Takht-Ravanchi also called on the Security Council to take its responsibility seriously and force the Israeli regime to end its military adventure in the region, especially its bloodshed and crimes against the Palestinians.
Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations stressed: "The Palestine issue would not be resolved without strict adherence to the principles of justice and international law. Therefore, the international community must live up to its legal, political and moral commitments to fully support the realization of the inherent rights of the Palestinians."
