(IP) - Iran's ambassador to Lebanon said that Iran's presence in the BRICS group shows the success of the country's foreign policy.

On the presence of Iran in the BRICS group, Iran's ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, said that Iran's membership could strengthen its position among emerging economies.

Cyril Ramaphosa, the President of South Africa, read the joint statement of the BRICS member countries on Thursday, August 24, and announced that the Islamic Republic of Iran, Argentina, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Ethiopia had been invited to join the group. 

According to the president of South Africa, this membership will begin in January 2024.
