Baghdad (IP) - Minister of Energy stressed Iran's readiness to implement joint water projects with Iraq.

Iran PressIran News: Aliakbar Mehrabian arrived in Baghdad on Friday to take part in the third International Water Conference to be held in the Iraqi capital city.

Upon his arrival in Baghdad, Aliakbar Mehrabian told reporters that the international event is a good opportunity for Iran to have an active participation in the regional environment of water diplomacy. 

The International Water Conference will be held in Baghdad for two days from May 6 to 8.

Iraq's Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiab Abdullah, received his Iranian counterpart and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel.

Mehrabian expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Iraqi government for the good reception and hospitality, wishing success for the Baghdad International Water Conference.

He stressed that "such conferences have positive repercussions that lead to closer bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries, good neighborliness, and open prospects for joint cooperation in the field of water resources management."

For his part, Dhiab stressed the necessity of continuing cooperation and exchanging visits at the ministerial and technical levels, exchanging information and experiences, and benefiting from the experience of Iranian companies in the field of water resources management.
